Process Engine is a modern software system based on a database. Process Engine has been programmed using C++ with the use of a library that enables installation in established operating systems and integration in the traditional database management systems.
Supported operating systems for example are Windows 32bit Systems (NT4, Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP), diverse Linux (diverse Unix Derivate) or Mac OS X.
Database management systems such as My SQL effective Version 3.x, Oracle effective 8e, ODBC, PostgreSQL-Server, Sybase, DB2, SQLite and Interbase can be utilised.
Resource requirements are the currently typical selections.
| Server | Intel Core 2 Duo, Xeon, 4 GB RAM main memory, 30 GB HDD hard drive |
| Client | Standard Office Rechner |
The hardware requirement changes with the operating system. Process Engine cannot be installed in the window registry. You can combine UNIX server environments and window clients.
Typical infrastructures provide the use of server/client environments. The integrated web server can be used as an alternative solution, which enables the users to work in the system via browser as well. Utilisation of the Process Engine in a terminal server environment such as VMware is possible as well.
The following chart shows a typical infrastructure in which the database server and application server are separated.
